What does it mean for a company to engage in social activities? Spending time and resources on activities that are not directly tied to business may look like a detour in terms of efficiency. Hesitation over separating business from social activity

When social activities are presented, a common reaction is that they might be for publicity. That is a reasonable question. So we state, within the facts, what we have actually done. We do not inflate the scale of our activities; we record only what was done.

Support after the Great East Japan Earthquake

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, we donated to NPO Japan Heart to support its medical relief activities. In disaster support there is also a way of supporting, from behind, the organizations that go in and work on the ground. We chose that role.

Promoting Japan-Thailand private-sector cooperation

When Thailand's former Prime Minister visited Japan and the Tohoku disaster area, we spoke and held discussions on private-sector cooperation between Japan and Thailand. Relations between countries are not built on agreements between governments alone. When people in the private sector understand and cooperate with each other, the relationship gains depth.

At a forum hosted by the Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Promotion Organization, we delivered a keynote speech and exchanged views on Asian economic partnership with leaders from many fields in Japan. Through dialogue in such settings, we have considered what long-term cooperation between Japan and the countries of Asia could look like.

How social activity relates to our business
